Upcoming Release & Tax Calculations

The upcoming release has another overhaul on the tax calculation
system. I needed to simplify this process, and as a result, some of you
will not be happy and MyClientBase may not work for you any more.
How tax calculations will work:
1. Taxes can be applied per invoice item.
2.
Invoice items can be given a property of taxable. Invoice items without
the taxable property are not affected by taxes as applied in items 1
and 3.
3. Global taxes can be applied per invoice, and can be applied against pre-taxed item amounts or taxed item amounts.
The
option to apply a global invoice tax against itself is being removed.
For those of you using this option, upgrading will probably wreck your
calculated amounts.
The option to apply a discount is being removed. Discounts will be applied by adding a line item to the invoice.
Long
story short - the tax calculation system was becoming too complex for
what I intended for MyClientBase. Simplifying the tax system may reduce
the potential user base for MyClientBase, but it will get the project
back on track as per my original goals.

The UTF-8 and PDF Problem

Good news for those of you who use a language with international characters - the PDF problem will be resolved soon! I've switched from DOMPDF to TCPDF in my development version and testing is going great. Need to make some adjustments to the invoice templates and get a few other things cleared up and then I'll release it.

Just thought I'd toss a quick note out there to let everybody know that MyClientBase 0.6.6 is close to being released because it includes quite a few frequently asked for features:
1. Ability to print Tax / VAT ID on invoice.
2. Currency symbol placement option (currency symbol before or after amount).
3. Invoice items can still be typed in free-hand or they can be stored and selected from a drop-down.
4. Invoice due dates can be configured to your liking, both globally and per invoice.
Lots of good changes coming with 0.6.6, and many more coming soon thereafter! Join the forums if you haven't already - you'll be able to participate and give me feedback, suggestions and ideas which ultimately helps to shape the direction and future of MyClientBase!

You can finally upload images for your invoices! There were a few non-English language translation variables left out of the 0.6.4 release -- this has been resolved with 0.6.5. Download it now!

Be sure to download the latest version of MyClientBase which includes a major bugfix that would cause items over $1,000 to display as $1, and also replaces PHP short-tags with full tags. There are also a few other minor bugfixes and general items addressed with this update.
New Support Forums Launched

participating in the old forums will re-register here. The Vanilla
forums just weren't cutting it for what we need, so I installed phpBB.
The old forums can still be found here for reference. Please do not create any new posts in the old forums.
I'll
be moving over some of the content from the old forums so we have some
of the same information, but otherwise, please re-register and enjoy
the new forums.

Along with the new year comes the new website for MyClientBase!
I'm pretty excited about the new site and about the project in general. There should be lots of good things to come this year for MyClientBase, and I invite you all to be a part of it!
